Increase to Quota for Care Workers and Home carers
The Minister for Enterprise Tourism and Employment Peter Burke last week announced that effective from the 10th of March 2025, an additional 1000 General Employment Permits have been added to the quota for care workers and carers in the home.
This reflects the significant need for care workers and carers in the home recognising the importance of this vital role and allowing persons who need additional support to remain in their homes rather than relocating to institutions such as nursing homes.
Town Planners added to Critical Skills Occupation List
The role of Town Planners has been added to the Critical Skills Occupations List. It is hoped that the addition of this role to the CSOL will contribute to the delivery of future housing targets and critical infrastructure planning.
Town planners are now eligible to apply for a Critical Skills Permit where the salary is between €38,000 and €64,000, provided that they hold a relevant third level degree. Registration with the Irish Planning Institute is also required.
