In March 2020, the Immigration Service Delivery suspended the processing of Short Stay C Visas (apart from a limited number of exceptional circumstances) as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. This has been a difficult time for many non-EEA visa required nationals seeking to travel to Ireland for short periods of time, particularly for persons seeking to visit family members in Ireland for a short period of time.

In a hugely welcomed development, as of Monday the 13th of September 2021, the Immigration Service Delivery will resume processing Short Stay C Visa applications. This includes re-entry visas and pre-clearance applications which had been suspended.

The Immigration team at Sinnott Solicitors Cork and Dublin offices is delighted with this development as many of our clients have been disproportionately affected by the visa suspension since March 2020. It has been particularly unfair on nationals from visa required countries in circumstances where nationals of non-visa required countries have been allowed to travel to the State throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

We look forward to assisting many of our clients in applying for Short Stay C visas in the coming months.
