The Immigration Service Delivery have published two recent updates regarding immigration registrations in Ireland.
Immigration Service Registration Office Burgh Quay
The first notice published on the 3rd of October relates to persons who are required to use the ISD online portal to renew their permission to remain (residents of Dublin, Wicklow, Kildare, Meath, Cork or Limerick).
Due to a large number of applications currently being processed by the Immigration Service Registration Office Burgh Quay Dublin, the Minister for Justice has advised non-EEA nationals who intend to travel internationally at Christmas and whose permission to remain is expiring between now and the proposed departure date, to submit a renewal application online no later than the 31സെന്റ് of October 2024 to ensure that their updated IRP card issues on time.
The renewal process currently takes approximately six weeks ( 3-4 weeks for the renewal to be processed, with an additional 2 weeks for the IRP card to be delivered by post).
The notice further advises that the Immigration Service Registration Office cannot guarantee that renewal applications submitted after the 31സെന്റ് of October will be dealt with on time to facilitate travel at Christmas.

Notice to Employers regarding Galway-based renewals of residence permissions
The second notice published on the 10th of October 2024 relates to Galway based renewals of residence permissions.
Non-EEA nationals residing in Galway continue to attend the Galway Immigration Office for first registrations and renewals. This has resulted in an excessive backlog of applications, with the next available appointments being April 2025.
The notice confirms that the ISD and GNIB are currently working on a solution to address the problems. A clear solution to this is to transfer the Galway immigration registrations to the Immigration Service Registration Office Burgh Quay Dublin.
Whilst the appointment situation is being addressed the notice confirms that where a persons IRP card has expired and they are unable to obtain a renewal appointment prior to the expiry date, they are permitted to remain in the State on the same conditions of their expired IRP card pending the renewal.
Applicants must however show that they have applied for and booked an appointment with the Galway immigration office before their current IRP card expires. This includes situations where a person plans to change stamp category.
Appointments are issued via email from the Galway immigration office so this email should be retained as evidence of the appointment booking.
