There is no longer any right of Appeal for Visit Visa (C visa) applications to Ireland
Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) guidance on applying for a visit family visa currently states that in order to prepare an application for a C visa (Visit visa), an applicant should prepared 3 months prior to travel and in general, can expect a decision for a short stay visit visa about 8 weeks after we receive your documents.
However, the visa decisions page suggests an actual processing time of one year.
Numerous visit visa refusals have recently refused on the basis that the intended dates of travel have passed and there is now no reason to issue the visa.
The fact that there is no right of appeal is hugely problematic for an applicant and this will have very serious consequences for families and loved ones.
It is not acceptable for ISD to outline an estimated 8 week time for decision when in fact applications are taking upwards of one year to me.
The fact that there is no right of appeal would appear to be an unlawful interference with the rights of the family and raises serious constitutional concerns.
