As part of ongoing efforts to digitise and centralise immigration registrations, the Immigration Service Delivery have announced that from 8वें April 2024 Irish immigration registration requirements for counties Meath, Kildare and Wicklow are as follows:

Residents of Meath, Kildare and Wicklow registering for the first time will attend the Registration Office located 13-14 Burth Quay, Dublin 2. Attendance is strictly appointment based only.
Appointments can be booked using the FREEPHONE number 1800-800-360. Operators are available to take bookings between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
Renewal of Immigration Permissions
Non-EEA nationals residing in the above counties will no longer be required to attend their local immigration office for registration. Instead, they must use the Immigration Service Delivery online portal for renewals of permission to remain. To date the portal has been available for immigration renewals of Dublin residents only.
Persons will be required to set up an account with the ISD and applications will be accepted up to 12 weeks prior to the expiry date of their current residence permissions.

The change from registration at a local immigration office/garda station to the Central Registration Office at Burgh Quay may be inconvenient for residents of the above counties when registering for the first time as they are now required to travel to Dublin.
However, the introduction of the online renewal process for residents of Meath, Kildare and Wicklow is a welcome and progressive development as it will facilitate an easier renewal process for those effected. It is also a positive step towards the introduction of this system to other counties. At present persons residing in cities such as Cork, Limerick and Waterford may have to wait 4 to 5 months to receive an appointment for first time registrations and renewals, and this is a cause of significant stress and anxiety to persons effected in circumstances where they may be left without an IRP card for many months. This can effect a persons eligibility to apply for citizenship, their ability to work, to travel etc. Without a doubt it is vital that this issue is addressed and we would hope to see the online renewal process being rolled out country wide as soon as possible to streamline the registration process.
