The temporary scheme allowing approximately 4,000 applicants to obtain their Certificate of Naturalisation by way of a sworn declaration is a welcome development for those who have already been issued with letters of approval for Citizenship but were unable to obtain their Certificate of Naturalisaion due to the suspension of the Citizenship ceremonies because of COVID-19. Those successful candidates were left in limbo since last March. We were delighted to show case our client Oleksandr Loginov on RTE Six One news last night who was relieved by yesterday’s news. Carol Sinnott Solicitor was also featured on the piece where she highlighted the fact that there are thousands of other applicants that have been waiting for their applications to be dealt with. In fact the latest figures show that 5,300 applicants have been waiting for over 2 years to have their applications dealt with and 3,200 applicants have been waiting for somewhere between 18-24 months.
